OnSite employees gathered at a special celebration recently to mark the retirement of long serving director, Alan Plante.

Alan, 66, retires after 50 years of dedicated service to the water industry, including 27 years as managing director for OnSite Central.

At a celebratory buffet lunch, Alan was thanked by colleagues and friends for his contribution to the business with speeches, cards and gifts. Alan also left a parting gift of his own for those less fortunate by kindly donating the leftover buffet food to a local homeless shelter, Maggs Homeless Centre.

Alan joined OnSite in 1982 when it was known as Insight Inspections. He started in a modest assistant role on a survey unit, but by the late eighties, Alan had worked his way up to the senior position of operations manager, overseeing all the Insight Inspections and operational units, as well as managing international projects in locations such as Indonesia, India and Hong Kong.

Insight Inspections later merged with its parent company, Insight Surveys, and in 1997 was bought by South Staffs Plc becoming OnSite Central Ltd. Alan stepped into the role of managing director of OnSite following the passing of his predecessor, Robert Harley, and has held the position up until retirement.

Alan’s successor, Andrew Lobley, took on the role of interim managing director in April earlier this year.

Charley Maher, CEO of South Staffs Plc, commented: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank Alan for his loyal service and significant contribution to OnSite and the Group, especially for his support to Andrew during this transition period. Alan’s retirement is certainly well-deserved after over 50 years in the water industry.”
