OnSite, one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist contracting services and part of South Staffordshire Plc, is excited to be named as a partner set to work on an exciting collaboration supported by Ofwat’s Innovation Fund.
The Ofwat Innovation Fund is a pioneering programme sparking innovation in the water sector and tackling some of its key challenges. South Staffordshire Water, which operates South Staffs Water and Cambridge Water, was successful in its bid for funding and secured a £1.44m share of the £200m programme to fund its Recovering Energy from Water scheme.
Recovering Energy from Water is a collaborative initiative led by South Staffordshire Water to reduce reliance on fossil fuels by safely harnessing the renewable energy from the existing water infrastructure. This method of tackling carbon reduction could reduce costs, boost accessibility of green energy, benefit customers and the environment, and help the sector reach Net Zero by 2050.
OnSite will be working with South Staffordshire Water alongside a diverse range of industry partners including WSP, Carrier, Spring, Affinity Water, Portsmouth Water and South West Water to support the design and development of a potential solution.
Joel Stevens, managing director of OnSite commented: “I’m delighted that OnSite has been selected as a key industry partner to support South Staffordshire Water with delivering this great opportunity for the sector. With our specialist expertise in infrastructure and assets, and focus on quality and safety, I’m confident we will successfully deliver this project with the team.”
