OnSite Rail, a specialist contractor within the UK rail sector and part of South Staffordshire Plc, has expanded its team with two new appointments to support the company’s continued growth across two strategic areas: aviation and expanding its offering in Scotland.
Rachel Thompson joins OnSite Rail as the new Head of Aviation where she will be responsible for establishing and growing its aviation offering across UK airports. This includes leading the development of OnSite’s capability in airside and landside works, ensuring the business delivers safely and reliably in highly regulated environments.
Rachel brings a strong background in infrastructure delivery, with experience across complex, safety-critical environments and major programmes. Over the last 17 years, Rachel’s career has focused on building high-performing teams, developing client relationships and delivering projects that balance quality, efficiency and operational demands.
Rachel commented: “I hope to position OnSite as a trusted delivery partner within the aviation sector. This means not only securing and delivering our core ‘bread and butter’ works but also expanding into more complex civil and infrastructure projects. A key focus will be building a sustainable pipeline, investing in the right people and expertise and creating long-term partnerships that support both client needs and our continued growth.”
Ian Cooper has joined Onsite Rail as Scotland Route Manager, where he will lead the development of the company’s presence across Scotland and the North of England. In this role, he will focus on expanding operations across rail, construction and renewable energy sectors, while building a multidisciplinary team to support growth in all areas.
Ian brings extensive experience in the rail and plant industries, having worked with several leading rail and infrastructure organisations. Throughout his career, he has played a key role in delivering major projects across the UK.
Commenting on his new role, Ian said: “I’m excited to take on this opportunity to build and lead a new venture. My aim is to establish a successful and well-respected depot in Scotland, develop a strong client base and continue expanding further while delivering our full range of capabilities nationwide.”
James Sargeant, Divisional Director of Critical Assets at OnSite, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Rachel and Ian to the team as we continue expanding our service offering across the UK. Their extensive experience and proven expertise will further strengthen our position in the sector and enhance the first-class service our clients rely on.”
