Our second Group Health and Safety conference was led by Richard Brookes, Group Head of Health and Safety, South Staffordshire Plc.

The day, which took place in May this year, provided an opportunity for some of the front-line teams from across our Group businesses to come together.

Joining our Group Executive, colleagues discussed safety leadership and learning better together. It was also an opportunity to celebrate excellence and individual successes.

The Group seated during a presentation by SSI’s Managing Director, Simon Dray.

As part of the celebration, several awards were presented. The award for ‘Our best safety improvement’ was presented to OnSite’s Kevin Carter, Fleet and Plant Manager, and Tom Rochford, Head of Drainage Services.

To aid its HGV drivers and help protect vulnerable road users such as cyclists, OnSite has invested in a revolutionary safety technology system for its vehicle fleet.

The FHOSS Cycle Lane technology attached to OnSite’s jetting HGV.

The FHOSS Cycle Lane technology is an illuminated early warning safety system. As the vehicle indicates left, the system illuminates the vehicle’s blind spots and the exclusion zone necessary for other road users. It projects amber lines onto the road along the left side of the vehicle, and red lines to the rear alongside a cyclist “caution” sign, creating a striking image for any approaching vulnerable road users. It creates two windows of opportunity for an endangered cyclist to stop in time.

The investment demonstrates professionalism and commitment to safety, both to OnSite’s staff and members of the public.
