OnSite, a leading UK provider of specialist water and rail infrastructure contracting services, and part of South Staffordshire Plc, is thrilled to announce that it has been shortlisted in two categories at the Water Industry Awards 2026.

The Water Industry Awards, organised by Utility Week, brings together frontline talent from across the water sector to celebrate innovation and ambition that benefits the network, customers and the environment.

OnSite is a finalist in the Emerging Contaminants Control Award category for its Finham Smart Wastewater Network Intelligence Trial. Working alongside Severn Trent Water and Kando Environmental Services, the trial tests how real‑time sensors and automated controls can predict and prevent pollution in sewer networks, shifting wastewater management from reactive to proactive.

OnSite is also a finalist in the Wastewater Project of the Year category alongside Haskoning, Severn Trent Water and InfraTech. The shortlist recognises its contribution to the Barston Nereda Nitrogen Technical Achievable Limit Project. The project set out to understand how far Nereda wastewater treatment technology could be pushed to remove nitrogen without relying on major new construction, chemical dosing or energy‑intensive systems. Instead, the team focused on process optimisation and operational fine-tuning.

Matthew Rowlatt, Divisional Director of OnSite commented: “We are delighted to have been recognised at this years Water Industry Awards. This shortlist reflects the team’s commitment to delivering smarter, more sustainable wastewater solutions. From achieving lowest possible nitrogen levels through Nereda process optimisation to pioneering datadriven network intelligence, these projects show how innovation can transform performance while reducing energy and environmental impact.”

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Birmingham on Wednesday 24 June.
